Free CPR Training in Houston – June 1-4

The American Heart Association in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office will train 1,000 people in hands-only CPR as part of the Everyone Can Be a Lifesaver service initiative launched by HoustonSERVICE.org in March 2011. The FREE training takes just 22 minutes, and when completed the CPR Anytime Kit is available to take home to train others. The goal is for the trainee to become the trainer, educating 5 friends or family members on CPR.

Anyone can learn CPR – and everyone should! Sadly, 70 percent of Americans may feel helpless to act during a cardiac emergency because they either do not know how to administer CPR or their training has significantly lapsed. This alarming statistic could hit close to home, because home is exactly where 80 percent of cardiac arrests occur. Put very simply: The life you save with CPR is mostly likely to be someone you love.
