Bring out the family for a day of FREE fun and activities at the Children’s Museum of Houston on Target Free First Sundays (June 5, 2011 this month). Target sponsors the museum so the first Sunday of each month is free! free-nights-at-houston-childrens-museumMake sure when you get in that you check out the new Retro Toy exhibit! Are you tired of having to constantly replace the batteries in your toys? If so, check out the Children’s Museum of Houston as they go retro. These retro toys will surely keep you entertained for hours to come. Experience good old fashion games such as Pick-Up Sticks and Chinese Yo-Yo. The Children’s Museum of Houston shows kids fun doesn’t have to run on batteries.


• Workings of Classic Toys: Come to Science Station to check out some of the nifty things you can do with retro toys and learn what makes them tick.
• Moving Paper Animals: Create moving animals that move their scales like an accordion or spring their legs like a slinky at the Inventors’ Workshop.
• Chalk It Up: Bring your creativity and express yourself through brightly colored chalk art at the Alexander Art Academy.
• 5, 6 Pick-Up-Sticks: This old favorite becomes more interesting with each turn. Add points while subtracting sticks from the pile in Junktion.
• This Spud’s for You: Come on over to Junktion and put together your own paper Mr. Potato Head.
• Chinese Yo-Yo: You spin me right round!  Put a personal twist on your own Yo-Yo at Junktion.
• Math Spirit: Head over to the Math Cart and toss Pom Poms into a target and learn math while keeping score.  Keep your math skills on track while playing Domino Trains.
